Earlier this year, Christel House India — Naya Raipur opened a new computer lab and it is very popular with the children. So when the Naya Raipur team was brainstorming options for community outreach programs, the idea of offering computer classes for older siblings of current Christel House students who missed the Christel House opportunity seemed perfect. Twenty three older siblings who attend government schools now visit Christel House twice a week to receive computer training. It’s a special educational opportunity as most government schools in India, especially in rural areas, do not have computer labs. Naya Raipur Principal Jayshree Nair reports that so far there has been 100% attendance. The project has been so successful that the school plans to continue the outreach program and enroll another group of sibling students soon.
