A trip to the aquarium is a very popular educational experience for second graders at Christel House India – Bangalore. Seventy students along with four teachers visited the aquarium at Cubbon Park. This is the third year for the field trip. In addition to enthusiastic questions and answers about the marine life – and learning that yes, fish do sleep with their eyes open - the kids were fascinated by the shape of the aquarium building itself – a unique cylindrical structure.
Cubbon Park is a popular 300 acre park in the heart of Bangalore. Teachers shared ecological lessons, including respecting the environment, understanding the importance of trees, and keeping public spaces clean for all. Field trips like the Cubbon Park visit are an important part of the curriculum in India and every grade goes on one field trip each year.
