Zakeer was raised in a crowded, very small one room house he shared with his mother, father, grandmother, and older brother. While his father worked hard to provide, income was irregular. During second grade, Zakeer was forced to drop out of school as his family could not afford the fees. “Growing up was quite hard – tough times actually,” he says. “Then Christel House happened.” The Christel House College & Careers program guided Zakeer from a very young age.
